Q. What is think as an artist in the Age of AI?
To think as an artist in the age of AI is to constantly ask, “What can only I bring to this?” even when a machine can help with the work. Instead of focusing only on doing every brushstroke or writing every sentence/drawing by hand, you focus on choosing the idea, the feeling, and the message you want to express, and then using AI as one of many tools to explore it. Your real power becomes your taste, your emotions, your lived experiences, and your sense of meaning, things AI does not actually have, it only imitates patterns. Thinking as an artist now also means being critical. For example, asking where the AI training data comes from, how fair it is, what stereotypes it might repeat, and how honest you want to be about using it. You decide which parts of the process matter to your identity, what you insist on doing yourself and where you are comfortable letting AI assist, and you treat AI not as a replacement for creativity but as a strange, powerful brush you control. Overall, to think as an artist in the age of AI is to stay as the author of the vision, the editor of the results, and the conscience behind the work.
